The Second Agribusiness Forum, organized under the JICA SHEP and Supply Chain Structure Strengthening Project implemented in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and the JICA, was successfully held on June 5, 2025. This program, organized for farmers and agricultural extension officers, aimed to raise awareness on quality inputs and advanced agricultural technologies necessary for successful commercial farming.
During the event, knowledge was shared through the collaboration of public and private sectors on the use of fertilizers and agrochemicals, modern technologies for water supply and weed control, drone technology, as well as modern agricultural machinery designed for small and medium-scale commercial farms.
Furthermore, as an initiative under the supply chain strengthening activity of the JICA SHEP project, attention was also drawn to the newly developed website for the Agri Information Hub (https://infohub.doa.gov.lk). This program provided a valuable opportunity to offer a new understanding to farmers on how to transform their farming activities into a business by making optimal use of quality inputs and modern technologies.
